The Victoria Town Hall in Coimbatore on Tuesday witnessed a heated exchange between AIADMK and DMK councillors during a council meeting over the recently inaugurated G.D. Naidu flyover. The confrontation began after Mayor K. Ranganayaki read a special resolution at the start of the meeting, thanking Chief Minister M.K. Stalin for the flyover.

Shortly afterwards, AIADMK floor leader R. Prabhakaran demanded that former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and former minister S.P. Velumani also be acknowledged for initiating the project. “The project was initiated during their tenure, and a resolution thanking them should also be read by the Mayor. Over 50% of the work was carried out during their time,” he argued.
DMK and AIADMK councillors began shouting in support of their respective party leaders, listing the projects carried out under each government. Later, the AIADMK councillors staged a walkout.
